RECOGNITIONS

PROGRAM EVALUATIONS

The board approved the following program evaluations: Instructional Effectiveness and Parents as TeachersEach program evaluation reviews strengths, concerns, and future recommendations.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN & BUDGET

The board approved the PDC Plan and budget as presented.

READING SUCCESS PLANS

Reading Success Plans (RSPs) will be implemented by October 28 for qualifying students in grades 1-6, with kindergarten plans starting in the second semester. These plans will be shared with parents during Parent-Teacher Conferences or electronically. Parents will receive quarterly updates, along with activity suggestions to support their children at home until the student meets the criteria to exit the plan.

NEW TEACHER INDUCTION

Throughout the school year, our first-year teachers participate in monthly meetings designed to assist new faculty members in their transition to Hallsville. Each meeting is dedicated to checking in with our new teachers, answering questions, sharing experiences, and learning about a specific professional development topic. In September, we centered our discussion on a district-wide priority of building relationships. It was an opportunity for our new teachers to understand the significance of making meaningful connections with students, their families, and fellow staff members. October’s meeting focused on the upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences.

PBIS DISTRICT-WIDE EXPECTATIONS

One of last year’s PBIS Stakeholder Engagement Committee achievements was creating District-Wide PBIS expectations that can be used in all areas. This districtwide effort to share clear and positive expectations will allow a more positive, safe, and enjoyable experience for all while maintaining consistency with the overall school culture. Initial reports from the administrative team indicate that spectators at our sporting events have embraced these expectations, contributing to a noticeably more positive, respectful, and safe environment.

SUICIDE PREVENTION & BULLYING PREVENTION

Hallsville Intermediate and Primary School is focusing on empowering students to act if they are bullied or witness bullying. School counselors will teach four key steps: speak up, be a buddy, interrupt, or tell an adult. Students will also learn self-regulation as an anti-bullying strategy. Megan Henry from Burrell Behavioral Health presented to 7th grade students twice on suicide and bullying prevention. In late October, Burrell will give a similar presentation to 8th graders. In addition, 6th grade students participated in a lesson with Ms. Lewis.

SEPTEMBER POLICY UPDATES

The September 2024 updates reflect, for the most part, enactments this session in the Missouri legislature. This is the second reading of policy and regulation updates. Policies go into effect after a second reading and approval by the Board of Education.

ATHLETIC EVENT ADMISSION PRICES

The board approved the recommendation to set athletic event admission pricing to $5 for adults (Ages 19-64). 18 & under are free and 65 & over are free beginning in the 2025-26 school year.
