Hallsville Middle School Activities

Welcome to Hallsville Middle School! We're dedicated to fostering a supportive and enriching environment for our students. We offer a variety of programs to engage and inspire, including an after-school art club where students can explore their creativity, a student leadership program to develop future leaders, and our popular intermediate and middle school quiz bowl teams that challenge young minds. Additionally, our choir and band programs provide opportunities for students to express themselves musically and build their talents. At Hallsville Middle School, we strive to improve lives through learning and provide experiences that help each student thrive.

  • We are excited to offer Intermediate Quiz Bowl to students in grades 4-6, a program that feeds into our middle and high school quiz bowl teams. Please join us for an information night to learn more about this exciting opportunity and how to get involved. Quiz bowl is a buzzer game where two teams compete head-to-head to answer questions from various subjects, including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports, and more! Hallsville’s 4th-6th grade Quiz Bowl team meets weekly to study facts and play practice matches, preparing for upcoming tournaments.

  • Middle School Quiz Bowl is open to students in grades 7-8, a program that feeds into our high school quiz bowl team. Quiz bowl is a buzzer game where two teams compete head-to-head to answer questions from various subjects, including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports, and more! 

  • Our Hallsville Middle School choir program offers a fantastic opportunity for students in grades 6-8 to develop their musical talents and enjoy the thrill of performing.

    6th Grade Choir: This is our beginning middle school choir class, where students learn how to read music and sing in two or more parts across various genres. They perform at both fall and spring concerts, and selected students have the chance to attend an Honor Choir in the spring.

    7th Grade Choir: As an intermediate choir class, students tackle more challenging music and sing in three or more parts. They participate in fall and spring concerts and are involved in Conference Choir and Music Contest.

    8th Grade Choir: This advanced choir class continues to challenge students with complex music, singing in three or more parts. They also perform at fall and spring concerts and participate in Conference Choir and Music Contest.

  • At Hallsville Middle School, our band program offers a dynamic and enriching experience for students in grades 6-8, providing free instruction on musical instruments and various performance opportunities.

    6th Grade Band: As our beginning band class, students will learn the basics of playing a musical instrument and gain valuable experience performing in large ensembles, small ensembles, and as soloists. There is no prerequisite for this course. Students must attend all rehearsals and functions, both during and outside of the regular school day.

    7th Grade Band: This intermediate band class builds on the skills learned in 6th grade. Students continue to receive free instruction and enhance their performance abilities in various ensemble settings. The prerequisite for this course is completion of 6th grade band or a successful audition with the director. Attendance at all rehearsals and functions is required, both during and outside of the regular school day.

    8th Grade Band: As the advanced band class, students further develop their musical skills with more complex pieces and varied performance opportunities. The prerequisite is completion of 6th and 7th grade band or a successful director audition. Students are required to attend all rehearsals and functions, both during and outside of the regular school day, and will participate in the Central Methodist Music Festival as part of the course.

  • The Hallsville Middle School Student Council is a dynamic organization open to students in grades 6-8. It offers a unique opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, engage in community service, and make a positive impact on our school. Members of the Student Council work together to plan and implement school events, lead initiatives that promote school spirit, and represent the student body in discussions with school administration. Participation in Student Council helps students build confidence, learn the importance of teamwork, and develop a sense of responsibility and civic engagement.
