Welcome to the Communications Department

The Hallsville School District is dedicated to open, transparent, bidirectional, and ongoing communication, essential for engaging and building relationships with our stakeholders and promoting a climate of trust between the school district and its patrons. We are committed to keeping the lines of communication open and being proactive by providing the most up-to-date information in a variety of formats to most effectively reach multiple audiences with the purpose of building and strengthening relationships between the District and its students, families, employees, community members, and stakeholders and supporting the district’s mission, vision, and goals.

The district recognizes the role of the media in providing news and information to the community. The Communications Department will assist in providing information about the district in a timely and accurate manner. Pursuant to Hallsville School District Board policy, news media members are asked to contact the Communications Department with requests to interview, photograph, or film administration, teachers, staff, and students.

  • Mass Notification System ParentSquare

The Hallsville School District uses a school system-wide notification system, ParentSquare, to communicate with families and employees quickly through multiple channels. These systems seamlessly work with our student information system so that we can contact families and employees with vital information.

To receive timely information, families should ensure the contact information (including all phone numbers, email addresses, and physical address(es)) is accurate and up-to-date in Infinite Campus. To update contact information, please email registration@hallville.org

    Infinite Campus Infinite Campus

Infinite Campus is the district’s online student information system that stores our student information and grades. Parents and students are encouraged to stay connected to monitor academic progress. Through Infinite Campus, parents can view their child's report cards, attendance, lunch balances, discipline, and class schedule information. If you need assistance with your Infinite Campus parent login, please contact your child’s font office.

    • Campus Parent App: Infinite Campus Parent
      • Infinite Campus offers “Campus Parent,” a free app to view student grades easily, attendance, course schedules, and meal service balances. The app can be downloaded from the iTunes Store or Google Play.
    • Campus Student App: Campus Student
      • Infinite Campus offers “Campus Student,” a free app to view student grades easily, attendance, course schedules, and meal service balances. The app can be downloaded from the iTunes Store or Google Play.

    eNews ENews

An e-newsletter from the District Communications Office is published every two weeks during the school year and includes school news, community information, and event/activity dates. Subscribe to the eNewsletter by entering your email here. If you have information for the eNews, email communications@hallsville.org.

    Calendars Calendar

The board-approved district calendar is available on our website. In addition, the district has a Google calendar that you can subscribe to via iCalendar or RSS feeds. The district calendar can also be viewed in ParentSquare.

    Peachjar eFlyers Peachjar

As part of our efforts to be more environmentally friendly and to embrace innovative technology, we moved from paper to digital eflyer delivery. With our Peachjar eflyer program, eflyers are sent directly to parents' email inboxes and posted on the school website and within ParentSquare.

    Social Media Social Media

The Hallsville School District realizes that part of today's learning is adapting to the changing methods of communication. The importance of faculty, staff, students, and parents engaging, collaborating, learning, and sharing in these digital environments is a part of 21st-century learning. The Hallsville district can be followed on social media on Facebook and Instagram (@hallsviller4).

  • Reporters and news personnel should direct all media inquiries to the District Communications Office at communications@hallsville.org or (573) 696-5512 ext 1140.

  • Statistics consistently show that schools are among the safest places to be due to the strong commitment of educators, families, and our community to our students and schools. We strive to be proactive rather than reactive. This guide outlines the key elements of Hallsville School District’s state of preparedness. We hope it will answer your questions concerning our actions and intentions in an emergency.
For consistency, we have developed the following terms to use:

    • Drill: An activity that covers a specific safety circumstance designed to prepare your student to act quickly and minimize questions and fears should an emergency occur. State law and district policy require fire, tornado, and other emergency drills, including an unannounced lockdown.
    • SRO: School Resource Officer; a uniformed Hallsville Police Department officer assigned to schools to help build and maintain relationships between police, students, families, and employees.
    • Lockdown Instruction Continues: Instruction continues in a secure building. All occupants remain in the classroom/building. Movement within the building is at the building administrator’s discretion.
    • Lockdown: Occupants are kept in secured rooms or areas. There is no movement within the building and lockdown procedures are followed.
    • Reunification Site: This area is where students and employees are transported.
    • Student Release Area: A location designated at a school or reunification site where families may pick up students. This location will be communicated to you in an emergency.

    As soon as possible, please:

    • Ensure your contact information in Infinite Campus is current and accurate, including who is authorized to pick up your student.
      • We will use this information and multiple communication channels (phone calls, email, text messages) to provide accurate and timely information in the event of an emergency.
      • If necessary, we may also use our District website (www.hallsville.org), district social media  Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/hallsviller4), and local news outlets may be asked to broadcast information.
    • Explain to your student that cell phones should not be used during an emergency unless directed by an adult. Your student must pay attention to instructions from trained personnel.

What you can expect if an emergency occurs:

    • The emergency plan will be implemented, and the district/school emergency teams will respond.
    • All appropriate emergency response agencies will be dispatched to the school.
    • Depending on the situation, students and employees will be secured within the building or relocated to a Reunification Site.
    • Families will be kept informed on the situation with as much detail as possible. The first and official way for us to contact you in an emergency is by using our mass notification system, ParentSquare. This will most likely originate from the district’s phone number, 573-696-5512. Please save this phone number in your contact list now. Please only rely on these official communications.
    • In an emergency situation, phones are needed to manage the situation, and lines must remain open. A call could also put students and employees at risk in an intruder situation. For example, if they did not have time to turn down their ring volume, a call could potentially give away their hiding spot.
    • You will not be allowed on school grounds during an emergency. Emergency personnel responding to the situation need the area clear to do their job. After emergency responders determine that a safe student release is possible, arrangements will be made to reunite students with their families. This will occur at a reunification site.

    After an Emergency:

    • You may be directed to a reunification site, where you will need to show photo identification.
    • Students will only be released to a parent, guardian, or other adult listed within TylerSIS. The individual picking up the student will be asked to complete a Student Release Form (available on-site). This procedure is designed for your student’s protection and for your peace of mind.
    • Please be aware that reunification can be very time-consuming, and we appreciate your patience.

Additionally, all Hallsville School District employees, students, families, and community members are encouraged to report anything they see, hear, or are made aware of that may impact a school. If you see or hear something, say something. Call 911 or the Hallsville Police Department at 573-696-3838.

    • When providing information, please be as detailed as possible. Include the name of the school(s), person(s) involved, type of alleged activities, and when they occurred/may occur.
    • All threats are taken seriously. Police are notified, and officers and school administrators work together to investigate any threat thoroughly, whether made verbally, in writing, by email, by text message, or online. The earlier we know about a potential threat, the earlier an investigation can begin.
    • Anyone who makes a threat against a school could face criminal charges. If a student is involved in making a threat, the school/district will respond as outlined in the student handbook.

For security reasons, components of our emergency plans are not publicly available.
