About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2025 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®)

As scholarship season kicks off, we’re seeking community support to help our graduating seniors succeed! Local scholarships make a huge impact, and we’d love your help in celebrating the Hallsville High School Class of 2025. HHS Local Scholarship Interest Form

At the December Board of the Education meeting, the Board approved its decision to place a $6.5 million no-tax-increase bond issue on the April 8, 2025, ballot to support the district’s next major construction projects, which include the following:

  • Parking and traffic flow improvements

  • Construction of additional classrooms

  • A multipurpose sports field with an artificial surface

  • Installation of security doors

  • Refinancing outstanding lease obligations

Gilmore and Bell, our bond underwriting firm, has worked with the district to prepare a resolution that includes ballot language for the April 2025 election. The language has been crafted to address the priority needs outlined in our Board-approved Facility Master Plan while also permitting flexibility to include projects to address other needs.

PROPOSITION 2

Shall the Board of Education of the Hallsville R-IV School District of Boone County, Missouri, borrow money in the amount of $6,500,000 for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, renovating, equipping and furnishing sites, buildings and related facilities for school purposes, including parking and traffic flow improvements, construction of additional classrooms and a multipurpose sports field with an artificial surface, installation of security doors and refinancing outstanding lease obligations; and issue general obligation bonds for the payment thereof? If this proposition is approved, the adjusted debt service levy of the school district is anticipated to remain at the current levy of $1.11 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of real and personal property.

John T. Belcher Scholarship

Congratulations to HHS senior Kaden Thompson, who was selected as the district nominee for the John T. Belcher Scholarship by the Hallsville Board of Education. The Missouri School Board Association (MSBA) and Future Builders established this statewide scholarship program in memory of Mr. Belcher, who was instrumental in developing innovative financing programs for Missouri school districts.

As the District nominee, Thompson has the opportunity to apply for a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a student in each of MSBA’s 17 regions. Following the selection of regional winners, a statewide winner is chosen and will receive an additional $1,500 scholarship. Applicants are judged based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, and the quality of an essay.

Upon graduation, Kaden plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in electrical engineering.

Below are highlights of items discussed during the open session on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, Board of Education Meeting.  The next regular session meeting is tonight, Wednesday, January 15, at 6:00 p.m. in the Hallsville Primary School cafeteria. Full agendas with document links are available on the district website.
